Do the math for the number of topics to be covered, the number of participants in the group, and the time available for the discussion. Consider the following examples:
Breakdown the workshop time period, and allow time for introductions, breaks (if you plan to have them), breaks and wrap-up. For example, if the workshop is scheduled for an hour, the agenda would look like this.
Do the math for the number of topics to be covered, the number of participants in the group, and the time available for the discussion. Consider the following examples:
- 60 minutes with 8 participants allows each person less than 10 minutes total speaking time. That translates into a maximum of 3 topics / 5 questions for the hour.
- 60 minutes with 12 participants allows a maximum of 5 minutes per person total speaking time. In that case, use 1-2 topics / maximum of 3 questions for hour’s discussion.

Indicate key issues on your copy of the discussion guide, such as where you want to focus the most attention or, what topic, if any, can be dropped if time gets short.
